If there is no break give the wire a tug and see if it will give. If the loop indicator light is on you can assume the break is in the other half of the boundary wire. Hooking up to both fence wires will send a signal up both sides of the break making it much harder to detect. This locator can detect wires up to 80 cm away from the sensing.
